A former leader of Rajshahi University (RU) unit Bangladesh Chhatra
League (BCL) and also a senior assistant of the university engineering
office raised allegation of extortion amounting at Tk 5 lakh against
present President of the party.
A general diary (GD) was attempted to file in this regard on May 15
against the accused Ahmed Ali, President of RU unit BCL seeking
security for life of the victim Azizul Haque David, Senior Assistant
of the University engineering office. But the GD was denied by the
Motihar police.
According to the copy of the GD, Ahmed Ali gave threat for life to
David several times demanding Tk 5 lakh as toll.
If the money was not paid in due time, David was shot dead in the
campus, GD also said.
RU BCL sources said that there was a deep political relation between
Ahmed Ali and David while they did politics together. Following the
good relation with Ahmed Ali David was recruited in the university
engineering office during the term of former VC Prof Abdus Sobhan.
After getting the job, misunderstanding and chaos grows between them.
Following the chaos, Ahmed Ali demanded Tk 5 lakh as toll on March 27
(evening 6:05pm) by Short Message Service (SMS) to Davids’ personal
cell phone. The SMS quotes Tk 5 lakh must be given within the period
of 05 April, 2013.
As David did not give the money in due time, Ahmed gave threat by
telling “you (David) will be shot dead in the campus immediately”.
Thinking the security of himself and his family he went to Motihar
Police station for filing the GD but police did not receive his GD.
Earlier, demanding proper investigation David sent SMS to BCL central
committee, president, Prime Minister, RU VC and pro VC offices in this
regard.
Contacted, Azizul Haque David told that Ahmed was continuously giving
threat to him and his family members demanding Tk 5lakh as toll.
Seeking security from police he told that I am totally feeling
unsecured now as police was not taking my GD.
Ahmed Ali denied the allegation and told that he was just a victim of
conspiracy. To dissolve the university unit committee led by him, some
miscreants was bringing baseless allegation against him.
