A day-long workshop on sensitization of village courts under ‘Activating village courts in Bangladesh’ project was held on Sunday at Madhukhali upazilla headquarter.The workshop organized by Madripur Legal Aid Association, funded by European Union with the technical assistance of UNDP.
UNO of Madhukhali S.M. Shafik inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest with upazilla vice- chairman Suriya Salam in the chair.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ramendra Nath Biswas, Monitoring officer of the project Rashedul Haque Liton, Trainer Oliul Hasnat Jony and Supervisor Enamul Haque gave training to the participants.
The trainers spoke on various subject including the objectives, necessity, jurisdiction, subjects of trial, issuing summons, hearing of the cases, arguments, deposition of witnesses, appeal and implementation of judgments under the village courts.
Upazilla office staff, UP chairmen, UP secretaries, UP members and members of CBA committees were the participants.
