Fake stamp worth Taka 61 crore recovered

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) recovered fake stamps worth around Tk 60.66 crore raiding a printing press in the city’s Lalkuthi area on Friday.
A special team of CID conducted the drive at the printing press located at 157 Lalkuthi of 1st colony under Darus Salam police station at about 10:00 am.The law enforcers recovered counterfeit stamps, included revenue, court fee, judicial and non-judicial stamps, and worth around Tk 60.66 crore during their seven and a half hours long drive till 5:30 pm.
Contacted, Sub-Inspector Latif of CID said they conducted the raid following information getting from Bulbul, who was earlier arrested from Lalkuthi area along with fake stamps worth around Tk 19 crore on early June 19.
During interrogation under a 4-day remand, Bulbul revealed that fake stamps were being printed in the printing press. Bulbul is not inDhaka central jail.
When the CID team conducted drive on Friday, the printing press was locked from the outside, SI Latif said.
