Bnp asks for immediate relief supply to greater Chittagong

The BNP on Friday demanded of the government to send relief materials to flood affected areas in greater Chittagong immediately.
Party spokesperson Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon made the demand through a press statement.
He said about 20,000 people of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazaar and Hill Tracts have become home less due to sudden and excessive rains.
Ripon, also international affairs secretary, said most upazilas (sub-districts) of Bandarbans, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazaar and Khagrachari districts have already become isolated from respect districts as many roads submerged due to flash floods.He said the BNP is concerned as power system has been disrupted in most areas of the districts and flood affected people are passing inhuman conditions due to lack of drinking water and shelter.
The BNP leader called upon the government to stand beside the flood affected people in greater Chittagong and take necessary measures for them.
The statement signed by assistant office secretary Asadul Karim Shahin termed the government’s inaction to start relief activities as regretful.
Ripon said the BNP has already started relief activities in the affected areas and asked party leaders and activists at all levels to stand beside the affected people. – Staff Reporter
