Detective Branch (DB) of Police on Thursday pressed charges against 29 BNP leaders, including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam, in a case filed in connection with the violence on March 2, 2013.DB inspector submitted the chargesheet to the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Anwar Sadat. BNP leaders Mirza Abbas, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdullah Al Noman, Amanullah Aman, Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Mir Sarafat Ali Safu, Moazzem Hossain Alal and Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anny were among the chargesheeted accused.
The case was filed against them with Ramna Police Station for vandalising and torching vehicles from Shantibagh to Malibagh crossing during their demonstration on March 2 last year. – UNB
