Fakhrul gone to Singapore again for treatment

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is set to leave here for Singapore tonight (Sunday night) for better treatment.He is scheduled to depart Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in a Singapore Airlines flight around 11:54pm, BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan told UNB.He said Fakhrul will receive treatment at National University Hospital, Singapore for various health complexities, including blockage in the nerve of his neck.Six months after his arrest, Fakhrul walked out of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) prison cell on July 14.Talking to reporters after walking out of the BSMMU prison cell, Fakhrul said, “I’m very sick. I’ve lost over 12 kg weight over the last six months.”He also said the blockage in the nerve of his neck (carotid arteries) and Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) problem turned very critical.From the BSMMU, the BNP acting secretary general went straight to the United Hospital to visit his ailing mother, Fatema Amin, there. He later got admitted to the hospital.He returned home on July 16, two days before the Eid-ul-Fitr.

On January 6, plainclothes police picked Fakhrul up as he came out of the Jatiya Press Club after nearly 25 hours of stay there following BNP’s announcement to observe January 5 as ‘Democracy Killing Day’, protesting the 10th parliamentary polls held on the day in 2014. BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who was freed on bail on Tuesday evening, said he will go aboard for better treatment soon.Talking to reporters after walking out of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) prison cell, Fakhrul said, “I’m very sick. I’ve lost over 12 kg weight over the last six months.”The BNP leader also said the blockage in the nerve of his neck (carotid arteries) and Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) problem turned very critical. “I’ll go abroad very soon for better treatment.”Asked to which country he will go for treatment, Fakhrul said his wife has already contacted doctors in the USA and Singapore over his diseases. “I’ll go to any of the two countries.”He urged the country’s people to pray for his early recovery. “Pray for me so that I can come round as early as possible and serve you.”The ailing BNP leader also expressed his gratitude to the media men for properly projecting the news of his illness before the nation.Over six months after his arrest, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was freed from jail on bail on Tuesday.The BNP leader walked out of the BSMMU prison cell around 7pm after his release order had reached the jail authorities.
