Fakhrul to fly to Singapore Sunday for medical treatment

The ailing BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will leave Dhaka for Singapore on Sunday for better treatment, according to his closed aides.
“He (Fakhrul) has undergone extensive medical check ups and tests in Dhaka including some tests relating to his nervous system in his neck and some other health related problems. Doctors suggested that he should go aboard for higher treatment,” said one of his closed aides.Asked in which hospital the BNP leader is going to take treatment, he said it has yet not been determined.
He said Fakhrul has kept him aloof from all kinds of political activities since he was freed on bail by the Appellate Division on July 14 in consideration of his ill health and treatment.
He was released from the prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital after six months of his arrest.
The BNP leader met party chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan residence on July 15 and informed her about his health condition.
He was detained from the Jatiya Press Club on January 6, and later, was shown arrested in seven cases.  – Staff Reporter Meanhwhie, A Dhaka court  on Thursday fixed September 10 as the date of hearing on charge framing against 12 BNP leaders and activists, including its Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a case filed with city’s Motijheel Police Station for cocktail explosion.
Dhaka’s Metropolitan Special Tribunal-2 judge Zakiya Parvin Fakhru fixed the date following a plea of Fakhrul’s lawyer Joynal Abedin Mesbah as the BNP’s Acting Secretary General was ill.
Motijheel Police Station’s SI Mokarram Hossain lodged the explosion case on December 9, 2012 with the police station. The charge sheet, accusing Mirza Fakhrul and 12 others, was submitted to the court on December 14, 2013. – Special Correspondent
