Fakhrul’s remand, bail petition rejected: Quizzing at jail gate

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court today rejected both the bail and the remand petitions on BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in two cases and asked the investigation officers (IOs) for quizzing him at the jail gate.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor passed the orders after hearing two separate remand petitions submitted by Investigation Officers of the cases.Earlier, Fakhrul was produced before the court after expiry of eight-day remand in connection with two separate cases for damaging vehicles and arson attacks lodged with Motijheel and Paltan Police Stations.
Later police inspector of Detective Branch (DB) Dewan Uzzal Hossain prayed for 10 days’ remand for interrogating him in connection with an attempt-to-murder case of a police sergeant Tanmoy Sikdar but the court rejected the appeal.
Senior lawyer Advocate Sanaullah Mia and city Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Abdullah Abu were present during the hearing.
Mira Fakhrul was arrested from the Jatiya Press club area on January 7. – BSS
