CHITTAGONG – A female engineer was killed after miscreants threw stones into a running train at Bhatiyari area under Sitakunda upazila of the district on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Priti Das, 27, wife of Mintu Das, hailed from Jamtol area under Anwara upazila of the district.
Railway police sources said Priti got serious head injuries after the miscreants threw stones into the window of Dhaka-bound “Turna Nishita” train service around 11.30pm.
She was rushed to Sitakunda Health Complex and later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where attending doctors declared her dead.
Quoting family members, police said Priti was doing her PhD at Northern University in the capital after getting engineering degree from Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET).
She was going to Dhaka with her husband who is a senior officer at the head office of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited, the sources added.
The body was taken to her village home while a case was filed in this connection. – BSS
