Filmfare awards 2017: Aamir, Alia, Dangal emerge winners

The jury has had its say and at the 62nd Filmfare Awards, Kapoor & Sons, Neerja, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Udta Punjab and Dangal took major awards. Alia Bhatt emerged as the Best Actor (Female) for Udta Punjab while Aamir Khan took home Best Actor (Male) trophy for Dangal. Nitesh Tiwari was adjudged the Best Director for Dangal.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil swept awards in the music category while Sonam Kapoor won Critics’ Choice award for Best Actor (Female). Shahid Kapoor (Udta Punjab) and Manoj Bajpayee (Aligarh) were joint winners of Critics’ Choice award for Best Actor. Neerja won Critics award for Best Film.

Best debuts were bagged by Diljit Dosanjh (Udta Punjab) and Ritika Singh (Saala Khadoos). The big music awards of the evening went to Arijit Singh (Best male playback singer for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s title track) while Amitabh Bhattacharya won the best lyricist for the film’s Channa Mereya. Neha Bhasin won best female playback singer for Sultan’s Jag Ghoomeya). Rishi Kapoor (Kapoor and Sons) and Shabana Azmi (Neerja) won best supporting actors male and female respectively.

Earlier, Filmfare Awards has begun on quite a high note in Mumbai. The starry night began with red carpet arrivals.
