At least 30 shanties were gutted in a fire that broke out at a slum in Dhaka in the early hours of Wednesday.Fire service officials said one of the shanties at a slum near the Dhaka Udyan at Mohammadpur caught fire around 1:30am, which spread on to other shanties.Firefighters rushed to the spot and managed to put out the flames after one and a half hour.“We suspect that an open kerosene lamp at a shanty might have caused the fire,” saud Fire Service Control Room official Palash Chandra Modak. He said no casualties were reported but at least 30 shanties in the slum were destroyed.
