A mobile court on Sunday convicted five drug addicts and sentenced them to six months
of imprisonment each on charge of taking drugs including hemp.
The convicts are identified as Sona Miah, 30, Shushanta Barman, 32, Rashedul Islam, 28,
of Mirpur Bazaar, Bishu Das, 35, and Abu Taleb, 40, of Badlagari village of the Sadar
upazila.
Acting on a tip off, a team of police conducted separate raids and arrested them from the
bazaar and the village on Saturday while they were taking and selling drugs, police said.
The police also recovered 15 litres of Bangla wine, 21 bottles of rectified spirit and 10
tiny packets of hemp and hemp taking tools from their possessions.
Later, the arrested were produced before the court of first class executive magistrate and
UNO Golam Mowla who handed down the verdict after examining the witnesses.
Officer in charge of Sadullapur Police Station M Monjur Rahman said the convicts were
