Former Mayor Minu, Mayor Bulbul among 350 sued in Rajshahi

Police have accused 350 leaders and activists of the BNP-led 18-Party alliance of killing a police constable in a bomb attack on a patrol truck in Rajshahi City on Thursday.Boalia Model Police Station’s OC Ziaur Rahman Zia said Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam filed two cases – one for murder and another for triggering explosions.
Of them, 85 persons were named while the others were shown as anonymous.
Among the accused are BNP Joint Secretary General (central) Mizanur Rahman Minu and Rajshahi District President Nadim Mostofa, Rajshai City Corporation Mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul and City BNP General Secretary Shafiqul Haq Milon.
City Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary Imazuddin Mandal and Assistant Secretaries ASM Mamun Shahin, Mainul Islam and Mahbub Hasan are also sued.
Police already arrested 44 persons until early hours of Friday for their alleged involvement in the incident.
At least nine policemen were injured in the bomb attack in the city on Thursday noon. Of them, Constable Siddharta Roy sustained critical injuries. He later at night died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka City.
The patrol truck was attacked in the city on Thursday noon, barely an hour after Rajshahi City Jamaat-e-Islami’s assistant secretary general threatened police while addressing an 18-Party rally.
