The maiden Mayor of Gazipur City Corporation, MA Mannan, called on his arch-rival Azmat Ullah Khan at the latter’s residence with sweets and flowers on Monday.Mannan visited Azmat’s house on Tongi’s Anarkoli road around 11:00am, Gazipur Correspondent reported.
The duo exchanged pleasantries and pledged to continue to work together for the development of the nascent city.
Mannan attributed several national issues to his victory during the visit. Sadar Upazila BNP President Shahanshah Alam and district Juba Dal President Emdad Khan accompanied him.
Earlier on Sunday evening, Mannan had visited the residence of Azmat. But, since the Awami League leader was not at home the two could not meet.
BNP-backed Mannan defeated Awami League-supported Azmat Ullah in the maiden Gazipur city polls by a margin of over 100,000 votes on Saturday. – UNB
