Galleri Kaya to organise group art exhibition

Galleri Kaya, one of the leading art galleries in Bangladesh, in the last 15 years has arranged 108 art exhibitions of which 62 were solos and 46 group art expositions. The gallery also arranged six art camps, eleven art trips and five workshops. A number of veteran Bangladeshi artists and internationally acclaimed artists conducted the workshops.
Celebrating its 15th founding anniversary, Galleri Kaya in Uttara is going to organise a group art exhibition featuring the artworks of 43 modern and contemporary artists of Bangladesh and India. The artworks have been done from 1957 to 2019. The group art exhibition inaugurates today. At the exhibition, the mediums include oil, acrylic, watercolour, drawing, etching, serigraph, mixed media, charcoal, pastel, wood engraving, ink and pen and others. The exhibition includes the artists of genres of the ’50s, ’60s ’70s, ’80, ’90s and post ’90s. The mode of expressions can be categorised as realistic, semi-realistic, abstract expressionism, abstract impressionism, symbolism, figurative, neo-expressionism and more.
Featured artists are Ahmed Shamsuddoha, Aditya Basak, Ajit Seal, Aloptogin Tushar, Aminul Islam, Amitabha Banerjee, Anisuzzaman Anis, Ashraful Hasan, Atin Basak, Chandra Shekhar Dey, Debdas Chakraborty, Dipa Haq, Ganesh Haloi, Goutam Chakraborty, Hamiduzzaman Khan, Hashem Khan, Hashi Chakraborty, Jamal Ahmed, Kamaluddin, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, K.G.
Subramanyan, Lalu Prasad Shaw, Maksuda Iqbal Nipa, M.F. Husain, Mohammad Eunus, Mohammad Iqbal, Murtaja Baseer, Qayyum Chowdhury, Rabin Mondal, Rafiqun Nabi, Ranjit Das, Ratan Mojumder, Safiuddin Ahmed, Samarjit Roy Choudhury, Sanat Kar, S.H. As part of the gallery’s activities, Galleri Kaya has always invited well-known critics, historians, curators and painters from different countries in the world. As a gallerist, Goutam Chakraborty (director of the gallery) has always stressed the importance of maintaining close personal ties with the artist community. In his love for the arts, he is particularly motivated by his determination to bring more prominence and recognition to the ever-growing community of established and upcoming Bangladeshi artists.
Goutam Chakraborty says, “Since the inception of the gallery, my aim is to create a cultural hub where art enthusiasts, aficionados and artists of varied generations alike can appreciate and interchange or learn of the exciting novel trends. I feel that the country’s long and rich tradition of fine art is unique and unparalleled in the sub-continent.”
The exhibition will continue till July 20.
