Human chain and rally held on Tuesday protesting arrangements of gambling and obscene cultural shows in different parts of the city and adjacent areas of Barisal.
The programme was organized by Progotishil Chhatra Samaj and participated by cross section of people in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall in the city.
Among others Advocate Manabendra Batobayal, president Barisal Press Club, Akkas Hossain, president Sujan, Jasimuddin, president city BCL, Shiddhartha Mandal, president B M College unit BCL (JSD), Shamil Shahrukh Tamal, president city Chhatra Moitri, addressed the rally.The speakers protesting arrangements of different types of gambling and obscene cultural shows in the names of housie , variety shows, lotteries, lucky draws, charki khela, Jatra Pala, Concert , said it is loosing moral values, increasing crime and deteriorating law and order in the city and adjacent areas.
hey said now more than five places such arrangements are going on and demanded imposing restrictions against those arrangements immediately.
Housie, lucky draws, lotteries, concerts, Jatra are not banned by law and legally holding at different parts of the country regularly by taking permissions from the administration, one of the organizers of such programmes denying to disclose his identity.Dr. Abdur Rahim, deputy inspector general of police Barisal range, said the organizers of such programmes arrange those by taking permission from administration. So law enforcers only could take action against illegal arrangements of gambling or obscene cultural shows if allegations received and law and order situation deteriorated. Barisal Correspondent
