Gazipur boiler blast kills 4, injures 40 

Gazipur, July 3 – At least four people were killed and 40 others suffered injuries as a boiler exploded at a readymade garment (RMG) factory in the city’s Nayarapara area in Joydebpur Police Station on Monday evening.Ataur Rahman, duty officer at the Fire Service Central Control Room, said the boiler went off with a big bang at Multifabs Garment Factory on the ground floor of the three-storey building around 7:10 pm.Additional police super of Gazipur (South) Russel Sheikh said the blast left four workers dead.On information, six fire-fighting units rushed in, Ataur said, adding that they took 40 injured workers to different hospitals and clinics, including Sharif Medical College Hospital and Popular Hospital.Later, some of them were shifted to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.Firefighters feared that the body of another worker remained inside the building. They said the victims died on the spot as a portion of the wall of the four-storey building and machinery fell on them following the explosion. – UNB news agency
