Communication Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said the next national election would be held by January 25, 2014.“The election must be held by January 25 next as per the constitution and preparation in this regard will start in October,” said the minister.
Obaidul Quader made the remarks while talking to reporters after inaugurating an overload control machine on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Baro Darogarhat in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong.
The discussion with the opposition on the structure of polls-time government could be held, and the Speaker of parliament can play a role in this regard, the minister added.
He, however, said an elected government can never be toppled by calling hartals. “Instead, the country’s development is hindered due to political instability.” (Source: UNB)
