Govt is suffering from Khaleda-Tarique phobia:Nazrul

The government seems to be suffering from ‘Khaleda-Tarique phobia’ for it keeps blaming them for anything that goes wrong, says a senior BNP leader.“It seems Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman and the BNP are always held responsible (by the government) for any incident in the country. They will be blamed even if an earthquake were to hit the country today,” said Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan.“Since the government has either Khaleda phobia or Tarique phobia, they are always held responsible for everything.”Khan’s remarks came on Saturday afternoon at a special prayer for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia held at the party’s Naya Paltan headquarters in Dhaka.Khaleda, who left the country on Sep 16, is currently in the UK for medical treatment. She is staying with her son Tarique and his family in London.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and some ruling Awami League leaders recently alleged that the BNP and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami were behind the murders of two foreign nationals in Bangladesh.Citing a newspaper report published on Saturday, Nazrul Islam Khan said, “The report said it has been alleged that Sohel (the BNP’s volunteer wing chief) was somehow involved in the foreigner’s murder at Gulshan.“Tarique has been implicated too. And that’s why the London connection has been created,” he said.

Tarique is the BNP’s Senior Vice-Chairman and Habib-Un Nabi Khan Sohel is the President of the Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal.Khan urged the government to put an end to such ‘bizarre imagination’. “The head of the government and the minister are making uncivilised and ill-mannered remarks.”He said a minister had said Khaleda was staying at Tarique’s home to hatch more conspiracies.“A mother is staying at her son’s home while receiving treatment. Those who are sniffing conspiracies in that should get medical treatment as well,” he added.
