Govt slams BNP’s refusal to allow PM to meet Khaleda

The government on Saturday termed ‘inhuman, discourteous and devoid of political etiquette’ the refusal of BNP to allow Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to meet its chief Khaleda Zia.
Addressing a crowed press briefing, PM’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury said the Prime Minister arrived at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office ignoring all the protocol. “She (Hasina) arrived as the Prime Minister, leader and a mother to console another mother ignoring all the protocol,” Iqbal Sobhan said.
Iqbal Sobhan said the big thing is that Prime Minister knocked at Khaleda’s door. “Will you keep it locked? You saw the gate was locked from that part. Even no one from BNP came to us to talk to us.”
The PM’s Media Adviser said the Prime Minister waited for a while at the gate but had to go back without meeting Khaleda as BNP claimed she was asleep on sleeping injection.
He said what they saw is in no way a decent political practice and they could have at least shown the courtesy by sending representatives to talk to the government. – UNB
