‘Don’t politicise failure to see Khaleda, PM came without info’

Bnp chairperson’s special assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas on Saturday night urged all not to do politics over Sheikh Hasina’s return from Khaleda Zia’s Gushan office without meeting her as the Prime Minister had been there “without informing the party”.
“Honourable Prime Minister expressed her desire to come here (Khaleda’s office) to console our madam. When Saifuzzaman Shekhor called me around 7:10pm, she was asleep. I told him we would give them a schedule after consulting her when she wakes up,” he said.
Shimul Biswas said there was no further contact from the Prime Minister’s Office after the call and the Prime Minister arrived at the BNP chief’s office without informing them.He also claimed that when they came to know that the Prime Minister arrived at their office, he rushed out with a condolence book to the gate. “But by the time, she went back,” he said.
Noting that the BNP chief was still in sleep as of 9:30pm, her special assistant said they will inform Khaleda Zia about the Prime Minister’s visit.
He also said they would give another schedule to the Prime Minister after talking to Khaleda if she wants to come again to meet the BNP chief.
The BNP leader thanked Sheikh Hasina for showing the gesture to console the BNP chief following the death of her younger son Arafat Rahman Koko.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived at BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office on Saturday night to console her following her younger son’s premature death, but Hasina could not meet her as Khaleda was said to be unwell.
The Prime Minister’s motorcade reached Khaleda Zia’s office gate around 8:34 pm. The Prime Minister got down from her vehicle around 8:36pm, but she got back into it around 8:40pm.
Sheikh Hasina went back after she was conveyed that the BNP chairperson was sleeping after taking ‘sedatives’ as advised by doctors as she was deeply shocked at the death of her son Arafat Rahman Koko. – UNB
