Govt turns more repressive, arrogant, says BNP

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said that the government has got crazier and more repressive to annihilate the opposition.
“When people are fed up with the brutal and despotic acts of the illegal regime that grabbed power through the January-5 voter-less polls, it has become more desperate and arrogant to resist the opposition,” he said in a statement. The statement was issued protesting the filing of ‘false’ cases against many opposition leaders and activists and attacks on their houses at different parts of Laxmipur Sadar upazila.
Fakhrul said the government is resorting to repressive acts to terrorise the opposition leaders and activists so that they do not raise their voice against its misrule.
He also accused the government of snatching the independence of the judiciary by obliterating the rule of law.
The BNP leader said they together with people will oust the usurper regime through a strong movement to restore people’s basic rights, rule of law and good governance.
He demanded of the government to withdraw the ‘false’ cases filed against opposition men in Laxmipur and release those arrested. – UNB
