Govt. will hold the next general election within a short time: Nazrul

Dhaka-BNP senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan on Wednesday said the government will hold the next general election within a short time as it has got isolated from people.“The current regime has become isolated from people. So, there’s no doubt that the next parliamentary elections will be held in a very short time,” he said.
The BNP leader came up with the remarks while speaking at a workers’ meeting of Nageshwari upazila BNP at its office.
Nazrul urged the government to form a neutral and credible Election Commission through discussions with the political parties.
He also offered fateha at the grave of Kurigram district unit Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal ex-general secretary Mohir Uddin who died in a road accident on May 30 last.
Talking to reporters there, Nazrul said thousands of BNP leaders and activists died prematurely being subjected to repression, killing, enforced disappearance and mental torture.
BNP’s Rangpur divisional organising secretary Asadul Habib Dulu, district unit BNP president Tasvirul Islam, general secretary Saifur Rahman and central Sramik Dal president Anwar Hossain were present on the occasion.
