GWP annual network meetings held thru video conferences

Dhaka, Sept 27 – The Global Water Partnership had its annual network meetings with regional partners through video conferences on Thursday to decide on its strategy.

In the first regional session representatives of water partnerships from five south Asian countries – Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan – gave their inputs coordinated by the regional office in Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan water partnerships among other things underlined transboundary water issues in the GWP strategy while India water partnership said this would be wastage of time as organizations like water partnerships would be able to do little about this.
Hosted by the GWP headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, the deliberations of the SA network meeting were guided by Monika Weber-Fahr from Washington.
The Bangladesh position was spelt out in the video conference from an office in Gulshan by Dr Khondakar Azharul Haq, facilitator of Bangladesh Water Partnership.
