HC directs govt to arrest Tonu’s killers in 24 hrs

Dhaka –A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Sunday seeking its directive on the government to arrest the killers of Sohagi Jahan Tonu within 24 hours.
Eunus Ali Akond, a Supreme Court lawyer, moved the HC with the writ petition seeking its order on the government to arrest the culprits and form a judicial probe body to investigate the murder incident.
Seven government officials, including the cabinet secretary, home secretary, inspector general of police and area commander of Comilla Mainamati Cantonment, have been made respondents to the writ.
An HC bench comprising Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice AKM Shahidul Haq may take the petition for hearing tomorrow, Eunus said.
