State Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Advocate Quamrul Islam on Thursday categorically said the High Court verdict, that declared the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami illegal, is the initial step of banning the party.The Awami League lawmaker came up with the observation while talking to journalists at his secretariat office in the afternoon after the verdict.
Quamrul Islam said, “The legal procedure has begun to ban Jamaat and the High Court verdict is the primary step.”
Earlier in the day, the High Court declared the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami illegal as political party.
The court also asked the Election Commission (EC) to cancel the registration of the party. – Banglanews24.com
