HC`s suo motu rule on Noakhali violence

The High Court Sunday directed authorities concerned to ensure security of the Hindu community and temples and bring back the normalcy in the life of minorities in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali district.An HC bench comprising Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury and Mahmudul Haque passed the order in a suo-motu rule.
The court also issued a rule upon the government why it should not be ordered to arrest and take legal action against the culprits involved in the incident.
Senior Assistant Secretary of Home Ministry, Inspector General of Police, Noakhali Deputy Commissioner and Begumganj Thana Officer-in-Charge were made the respondents to the rule and asked to explain within 10 days.
On Thursday after ICT verdict, some allegedly Jamaat-Shibir activists vandalised and torched several Hindu house and temple and left six minors injured at Begumganj upazila.
The  culprits also looted cash, valuables and gold ornaments from the minor’s house.
