At least ten persons were injured and some rooms of Netrakona Animal hospital and a BCL leader’s office were
vandalized following a series of incidents of chases and counter chases between
the agitated groups of Hefajot-e- Islam and Chaatra League and Jubo League
activists at different areas including Joynogar and Barhatta road of the
district town on Tuesday.Police and witnesses said, the incidents took place over the issues of calling public meetings at local Muktarpara
maidan by the Hafajot-e-Islam Netrakona district unit and district Muktizoddha
Sangsad today.
Earlier, to avert any untoward incident or political violence, top-level officers of Netrakona district administration
led by Deputy Commissioner Netrakona Anis Mahmud and Police Super Netrakona
Jakir Hussain Khan had a series of meetings with the leaders of the aforesaid
organizations to settle the matters relating to the scheduled publ;ic meetings,
but their efforts virtually went in vain.
The situation was brought under control
following timely intervention of police , BGB and RAB forces, the sources said.
Now, the overall law and order situation
of the district town was remained under full control of the authority,
Officer-in-charge of Netrakona sader police station AKM Mofijul Islam told the
New nation correspondent here tonight.
