Dhaka – Bangladesh cricket team’s Test version skipper Mushfiqur Rahim is going to add another feather to his career when the Tigers will face visiting England in the 2nd Test beginning at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.Mushfiqur will be the 3rd Bangladeshi cricketer to play 50 or more Tests in after Mohammad Ashraful and Habibul Bashar.However, he is the first among the current cricketers to achieve the feat,UNB News Agency Reported.Former Bangladesh national team captain Mohammad Ashraful played the highest 61 Tests while former captains Habibul Bashar 50 and Khaled Mashud played 44 Tests.Among the current players, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan have so far played 43 Tests each.
Making his international debut as wicketkeeper-batsman in a Test against England in May 2005 at Lord’s in London, Mushfiqur has so far played 49 Tests and scored 2737 runs at an average of 32.58, including three centuries and 15 half centuries.Mushfiqur hit his best Test innings figure of 200 runs as captain against Sri Lanka in March 2013 at Galle International Stadium.Mushfiqur has 90 dismissals in his bag as the wicketkeeper, including 79 catches and 11 stumping.
