Hockey Federation election now April 29

Dhaka – Election to the Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) will now be held on April 29 next.

The election commission formed by the National Sports Council (NSC) announced the fresh polls schedule on Thursday.

The Hockey Federation election was earlier postponed twice in the dying moment on excuses — first for flood in the country’s northern region and then for dispute over a councillorship.

The election commission announced the fresh election schedule giving validity to previous election formalities completed till April 4, the date of withdrawal of the candidature.
 
According to the new schedule, candidates who submitted nomination papers earlier for the April 8 election can withdrawal candidature on April 16 and the final list of candidates will be published at 4pm on April 18.

A total of 83 councillors except Shishu Kishore Sangha councillor Tareq Ahmed Adil will be able to exercise their franchise to form the 28-memder executive committee of the federation.

Election Commissioner and NSC Director (Sports) Shah Alam Sarder had earlier told UNB that they would hold the election by this month.UNB
