Holey Artisan ‘mastermind’, ‘weapon supplier’ put on remand

Dhaka, March 22 – The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Thursday put on two members of Neo JMB including Hadisur Rahman Sagar on remand.
Sagar, allegedly supplied bombs during the Holey Artisan attack. Magistrate Raihanul Haque of the CMM Court granted a seven-day remand of Sagar.
Meanwhile, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Haque granted a six-day remand of other accused Akram Hosen Niloy, who was the alleged mastermind of Hotel Olio International blast in Panthapath of city.
Earlier, law enforcers produced the two accused before the courts yesterday (Thursday) with a 10-day remand prayer.
According to the sources of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Sagar, who hails from Joypur, allegedly supplied arms and grenades during the Holey Artisan Bakery attack in Gulshan that left 20 dead including 17 foreigners in 2016.
Niloy, hailing from Kishorganj, is the alleged mastermind of the Hotel Olio International blast in Panthapath area of the city on August 15 last year, sources of the CTTC further said. Earlier in the day, a team of Bogra police arrested Sagar, 36, and Niloy, 26, from Shibganj upazila of the district. Later, the two accused were handed over to CTTC unit, Mohibul Islam Khan, Deputy Commissioner of the unit, told newsmen.
Tamim Chowdhury, a suspected mastermind of the Gulshan café attack, killed during a raid in Narayanganj, brought Hadisur to Neo JMB. Before joining the Neo JMB in 2015, he was a member of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). – – Special Correspondent
