Gazipur, Apr 1 (UNB) –At least three houses, five shops and a sweater factory were gutted in separate fire incidents in the district from Sunday night to early Monday.
Md Jakir Hossain, senior station officer of Joydebpur Fire Station, said that a fire broke out on the 1st floor of six-storey ‘Gorib and Gorib Sweater Factory’ in Bhogra area around 3am on Monday.
On information, seven fire-fighting units from Joydebpur, Tongi and Sreepur rushed in and doused the fire after two hours of frantic efforts.
Besides, a fire broke out from a lightning strike at the house of Md Saiful Islam in Chandona Dakhshinpara area of the city early in the morning which gutted seven rooms of the house and an adjoining shop.
On information, a fire service team rushed in and doused the fire.
Ram Prasad Paul, station officer of Sreepur fire station, said a fire broke out from a candle light at the houses of Haji Rokon and Jahangir Alam in Gorgoria Masterbari area.
On information, two fire-fighting units went to the spot and doused the fire after one and a half hours.
Meanwhile, five shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Mirzapur Bazar in Sadar upazila around 11:45pm.
