Human chain for festival bonus

Teachers and employees of non-government educational institutions Wednesday formed human chain in the city demanding full festival bonus and salaries before Eid.They also criticised the discriminatory role of present government about the teachers and employees of non-government educational institutions.The programme was organised by Bangladesh Shikkak Samity in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall in the city.Dashgupta Ashish Kumar, regional president of the Samity presided over the programmee addressed, among others, by Principal Faridul Alam Jahangir, Tofael Ahmed, Abdul Malek, Abdul Halim, Fariduddin, Jasimuddin, Dulali Goldar, Sonali Karmakar, Enayet Hossain, Mawlana Zahirul Islam, Asadul Alam, leaders of the organisation.Speakers of the rally said that education would never be standardized till the discrimination the between government and non-government educational institutions would not be removed.They demanded payment of full festival bonus and salaries of June and July months before Eid ul Fitr.They also criticised too much politicisation at different times which prevented teachers from performing their teaching duty.They alleged that due to carelessness of the Education Ministry, the teachers and employees have not yet received the festival bonus and salaries of June.We have slim chance of getting salaries and festival bonus before Eid as the vacation of the institutions already started, the speakers said.In addition to the demand of bonus and salaries, their other demands included quick implementation of the National Education Policy 2010, increase of house rent, medical and festival allowances, annual increment for the teachers and employees of non-government institutions equal as the government educational institutions and fixing the retirement age of teachers at 65 and immediate implementation of the manpower structure of 2010, they told. -Our Correspondent’
