Human chain to secure democratic and fundamental rights held

Leaders of a number of political parties that are charting the middle road in between the AL-led 14-party alliance and the Bnp-led 20-party alliance on Monday jointly took to the street voicing the demand for ensuring democratic and fundamental rights including meetings and rallies; end of violence and security of life and property.
The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and the Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD); Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) the Nagorik Oikya together organised a human chain in font of the National Press Club on Monday to voice the demands. Dr. Kamal Hossain, President of Gono Forum and Asm Abdur Rob, chief of JSD were present at the human chain programme.The human chain programme came at a time when the AL-led political alliance and the BNp-led alliance are moving for a violent face-off, while people are losing their life and property in violence over blockades and shut-downs. Their programme was a clear signal for disapproval of facing political programmes with the security forces of the state.
Gono Forum chief Dr. Kamal Hossain, CPB chief Muzahidul Islam Selim, JSD chief ASM Abdur Rob, BSD chief Khalequzzaman Bhuiyan and Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna raised their voices against trampeting democratic and fundamental rights.
The joint human chain attracted several thousand people who took part in the human chain programme – Staff Reporter.
