Husband to walks gallows for killing his wife in Netrakona

A court in a verdict here today awarded a man death penalty for killing his wife eight years ago at village east- Nonderchoti under Durgapur upazila of Netrakona district. Additional district and session Judge Netrakona Mohammad Abdul Hamid pronounced the verdict as his crowded court room saying that the convicted person identified as Abdus Salam,40, of village Dubrajpur under the Durgapur upazila will be hanged on the gallows until his death as the murder charge brought against him was proved by the prosecution under section 302 of BPC in beyond benefit of doubts. According to the court sources , the prosecution story, in brief, is that Abdus Salam locked in a family feud with his wife namely Shilpi Akter, 36, centering the issue of making flour- cakes on the day of October 10, 2007. During the clash, Salam hit Shilpi with a Ramdao indiscriminately leaving her critically injured at his bedroom. Later, she died following her grievous injury on way to Mymensing medical college hospital.After the murdering incident, the victim’s elder brother Shahor Ali filed a murder case with Durgapur police station against the Abdus Salam.Police after investigating the case submitted charge –sheet before the court against the convicted person on December 12, 2007.The learned Judge after examining the witnesses and evidences found Salam guilty and handed down the death penalty to him today.
