Unidentified miscreants vandalised an idol of Hindu goddess Laxmi in a temple at Narayanpur in the district town early Sunday.
Temple committee members and locals said miscreants damaged the idol at Mitali Sangha Durga Temple when the Hindu devotees left the temple at about 12 am.
The incident came to light early in the morning when the devotees went to the temple. The miscreants also vandalised a pick-up van kept in front of the temple.
On information, police visited the spot.

6 BNP men hurt in AL attack in Pabna
At least six leaders and activists of opposition BNP and its front organisations were injured in an attack allegedly by Awami League men in Sujanagar upazila headquarter here on Saturday afternoon.
Witnesses said upazila unit BNP brought out a procession and organised a meeting at upazila auditorium in the afternoon demanding release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s special assistant Shimul Biswas.
When upazila unit BNP president Azam Ali Biswas, general secretary Hazari Zakir Hossain Chunnu, and joint secretary Abdul Halim Sazzad along with other activists were returning home after the meeting some Awami League activists equipped with sticks attacked them, leaving six people injured in the afternoon.
