A Dhaka court on Sunday sentenced a young man to life term imprisonment for raping a class one student at Ashulia of Dhaka in 2011.Judge Jesmin Ara Begum of Dhaka’s Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 pronounced the verdict on Sunday. The court also fined convict Liton, 23,
Tk 50,000, in default the he will have to suffer six months more in the prison. Liton hails from Faridganj upazila of Chandpur. His father’s name is Sanaullah Bepari.
On November 15, 2011, Liton allured the victim, a class one student and took her to his rented house. Later, the convict raped the child by force. The police detained the convict with the help of local people and lodged a case against him.
SI Ayub Khan of Ashulia Police submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court on March 18, 2011. Of the 12 witnesses, the court recorded the depositions of seven to deliver the verdict.
