Improvement of primary education standard stressed

Speakers at a function on Wednesday stressed the need for improving the standard of primary education in all primary schools with a view to producing meritorious students and to make them worthy citizens of the country.“In this context, the teachers and the members of school managing committee including the officials concerned in their cordial and coordinated efforts can play vital roles in ensuring better education to the students and help them face the challenges of 21 century”, they said.They made the comments while addressing a workshop entitled “Existing Problems and its Solution to Ensure Quality Primary Education” at the conference room of Fulchhari Upazila Parishad.Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), a local non-government organization, organized the workshop under Quality Primary Education for Children from Extreme Household in Bangladesh in cooperation with Netz Bangladesh and BMZ Germany.Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mehedi-ul-Sahid addressed the workshop as the chief guest while president of upazila education watch committee Shamsuzzoha Bablu presided over the function.Upazila primary education officer Abu Bakar Siddique, upazila women affairs officer Makammam Mahmuda, Udakhali UP chairman Abdul Baki Sarker and area coordinator of the project Monjurul Islam addressed the workshop.UNO Mehedi-ul-Sahid in his speech urged the teachers to be more sincere, professional, and honest to provide quality education to the students to produce brilliant students from the institutions to lead the nation towards desired progress and development.During the open discussion session, a good number of recommendations were also adopted to run the primary schools in the upazila smoothly and to make the primary education, which is called the foundation of all education, a grand success.Upazila level officials, teachers, guardians, education interested persons, public representatives and political leaders including the journalists attended the function. -BSS, Gaibandha
