A total of 273 people died of tuberculosis in four upazilas of the district in the last 10 years as the disease is still prevalent here.Addressing a roundtable here on Wednesday, speakers said a total of 821 people are now suffering from the disease in the district and they are being provided with medical facilities by Brac, a leading non-government organisation.The roundtable, titled ‘Tuberculosis Control Programme: Participation of all classes’, was held in the town with district civil surgeon Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain in the chair.Deputy Commissioner of Chuadanga Delawar Hossain, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Chuadanga branch president M Martin Hirok Chowdhury, its general secretary Dr Shahadat Hossain and local press club president Mahtab Uddin, among others, spoke at the programme. -UNB, Chuadanga
