Bus owners and workers went on an indefinite strike on the 18 regional routes in Bagerhat on Friday morning demanding a ban on playing of unauthorised battery-run vehicles like Nasimon, Karimon, easy-bike and Mahendro.Leaders of the District Bus Owners and Workers Oikya Parishad at a meeting earlier called the strike.
As the bus operators kept their vehicles off the streets due to the strike, road communication with different districts including Khulna, Pirojpur and Barisal is being seriously disrupted.
General Secretary of Bagerhat Inter-district Road Transport Owners’ Association Monir Hossain Khan said eight associations called the indefinite strike at a joint meeting and it will continue until their demand is met.
