Rajshahi, March 26 – The 48th Independence and National Day was celebrated in a befitting manner by paying tributes to the freedom fighters at the Rajshahi University (RU), Rajshahi University Engineering and Technology (RUET). Marking the day, the authorities and many socio-cultural organizations of the institutions chalked out day-long elaborate programmes including special parade of Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC), Rover Scout, friendly cricket, football, volley ball, cultural performances, hand writing competition among the children, basketball tournament and special prayer for the departed soul of the martyred. Beside this before the sunrise hoisted the national flag atop the administrative buildings, offices, dormitories and all the buildings on the campus.
RU vice chancellor Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan and Pro vice chancellor Prof Dr Anand Kumar Saha along with top officials placed floral at the university Shahed Minar at 12.01 of the day and brought a rally on the morning.
The martyred collection archive (Shaheed Smrti Sangrohosala) of the university will remain opened from 7am to 5pm for the public exhibition on the day.
On the other hand, RUET vice chancellor Prof Dr Rafiqul Islam Bag, along with other officials, placed floral wreath at the campus Shaheed Minar on morning and later brought a rally on the campus. – RU Correspondent:
