Karachi, Jan. 6. Consider Pakistan as your home, as it is friendly to all, irrespective of national or ethnic identities. Karachi is now a terror-free city and revives its heritage and pride as the commercial capital of Pakistan, says Mohammad Zubair, the Governor of Sindh Province of Pakistan.He made this assertion to the foreign journalists who called on him at his official residence, prior to the inauguration of the 5-day long international media conference being held in Karachi from January 5 to 8.
Mentionable journalists from 24 countries, including US, UK, Canada, Germany, Denmark, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Finland, Romania, Serbia, Austria, Croatia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan etc. attend the conference organized by PMDF (Pakistan Media Development Foundation).
The Governor reminded the journalists how Pakistan sacrifices its assets and shelters the Afghan refugees since the invasion of Soviet Union in Afghanistan in 1979.
He said, Pakistan government handles the problems with patience enjoying people’s support and cooperation of all the political parties.
He said this conference shows that Karachi is a peaceful city where you can move freely anytime without any fear. Consider this city, consider Pakistan as your home. Karachi is a multi-ethnic, multi-linguistic, multi-cultural city.
Later inaugurating the conference, the government he hoped Karachi and whole of Pakistan will more peaceful in coming days though it faces problems from outside its territory.
The inauguration program started with the recitation from the holy Quran, It was presided over by The governor said, press and judiciary in Pakistan are totally independent and free from official intervention.
The 4-day long conference is divided in eight session what will discuss on topics concerning media. These are: Key World issues and Media; Strategic Proximity and Media; Media Laws/Code of Conduct/ Ethics; Future of Print Media and Scope of Digital Media; Case of South Asian Media; Media & Cultural Variations; Psychological effects of Current Affairs, Programs and Social Media; and Challenges faced by Women in Media.
