Int’l Mother Language Day observed in Singapore

Two Bangla schools- Zhangdi Primary School and Jhuying Primary School- in cooperation with Bangladesh Language and Cultural Foundation (BLCF) observed the International Mother Language Day in Singapore today.To observe the day, two separate events were held one at Zhangdi Primary School at 8.30 am and the other at Jhuying Primary School at 11 am in the morning, a press release said here.Some 600 students accompanied by their teachers and the guardians marched in a choir over to a makeshift Shaheed Minar and paid homage to the language martyrs laying down the flowers, brought by the children on their own, at its foot.This was followed by a cultural show where children sang and recited Bangla poems and members of the staff and the guardians also sang some beautiful songs.In Singapore, BLCF has been in operation for over last 15 years providing an international standard education to some 600 children of the diasporas of Bangladeshi parents living there.
