Islamic Foundation has been implementing a number of socio economic development programmes in the district to alleviate poverty of the people.The Foundation imparted training to the Imams on preventing terrorism and militancy. It also imparted training to people on primary healthcare to create mass awareness about the adverse effects of contaminated drinking water, arsenic and pollution.
Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation, Narsingdi, Mohiuddin Ahmed said the foundation has imparted training to 1,475 Imams on poverty alleviation, human resources development and self-reliance programmes like nursery, tree plantation, poultry, fish farming and others.The Deputy Director said Imams can prevent social curses and crimes like drug abuse, child marriage, dowry, eve teasing, militancy, extortion and terrorism through preaching real sprit of Islam.Besides, Islamic Foundation has been carrying out mosque-based education programme for children and adult by setting up mass education centres in the district.The foundation has set up 292 mosque-based child pre-primary education centres and 12 mass education centres for eradicating illiteracy from the district.The foundation has also set up 160 Quran learning centers in the district.It has set up 466 mosque-based libraries, 6 model and 14 general resources centres in the district to provide the readers with necessary books on Islamic culture and values and current affairs.BSS, Narsingdi
