Police arrested a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami from Khardar area in the district town on Monday afternoon over violence.The arrestee was identified as Advocate Sheikh Abdul Wadud,48, secretary of district unit Jamaat and son of Joynal Abedin, a resident of Sonakura village in Rampal upazila of the district.Ali Azam Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bagerhat Model Police Station, said on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Wadud in the afternoon.Police arrested Wadud in connection with a case on violence at Dewanbati village in Sadar upazila on October 28, the OC added.Earlier, an arrest warrant was issued against him for the violence case.
