Jamaat leaders, 3 Shibir members held

Police arrested one leader of Jamaat-e-Islami from Muria Union at
Beanibazar Upazilla in Sylhet on Tuesday. The arrested leader of
Jamaat is identified as Abul Khair, Arrested person is the Nayeebe
Ameer of Beanibazar branch of Jamaat and chairman of Muria Union
Parishad.  Acting on a secret information a team of police raided the
village home of Shahid Tila and arrested him.  Police said, arrested
Abul Khair was a Jamaat cadre and involved with terrorism at
Beanibazar Police asolt case.
In Bhola police arrested two leaders and an activist of Islami Chhatra
Shibir, student front of Jamaat-e-Islami, from Bazar area in
Charfashion upazila on charges of planning subversive activities early
Saturday.
The arrested persons were identified as Sohel, president of the
upazila unit of Shibir, Hafiz Mizan, pourashava secretary, and
Rafiqul.
Police said they arrested the three people while they were pasting
posters in the area.
They were arrested on suspicion of planning subversive activities, said police.
In another incident, police arrested a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami
at Balsabari Bazar in Ullapara upazila on Friday.
The arrested was identified as Shamim Ahmed, 37, general secretary of
Durganagar union Jammat unit of the upazila.
Police said a team of police raided the area and arrested Shamim at
about 1.00 pm.
Habibul Islam, officer-in-charge of Ullapara Model thana, said Shamim
is an accused in two cases filed in connection with hurling bombs at
police vehicle and attacking police during the countrywide daylong
hartal called by Jamaat on June 10.
Later he was sent to jail.
