Jamaat man beaten dead allegedly ‘by mob’ in Satkhira

A local activist of Jamaat-e-Islami was killed reportedly in a lynch-mob attack at Deltar Crossing in Debhata upazila early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Aktar Hossain Aku, 48, son of Faizul Islam of Kulia village in the upazila.
Jalal Uddin Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Debhata Police Station, said Aku was a fugitive accused in the case for killing of Raihan, organising secretary of Debhata upazila unit Awami League.When locals found Aku roaming in the area, they caught him after a hot chase at about 11:30 pm and gave him a good beating, leaving him critically injured.
Being informed, police rushed in and rescued him from the grip of the mob in the night.
Later he was rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead at midnight.
Aku was wanted in several cases, including that for the killing of the Awami League leader, said police. – UNB
