Jamaat’s hartal for fourth day

Dawn-to-dusk hartal of Jamaat-e-Islami is underway countrywide for fourth consecutive day on today.Additional law enforcers have been deployed in important and risky points in the capital as well as in various districts to avert untoward situation.
Jamaat has called the hartal protesting the verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 that sentenced Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed to death for committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
Earlier on Wednesday, Jamaat Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed was sentenced to death for his involvement in crimes against humanity during the war.
Jamaat started observing hartal from Monday protesting ICT verdict.
Jamaat-Shibir activists were locked into clash with law enforcers in different points of Rajshahi metropolitan city in early hour of hartal today.
In Panchaboti area, Shibir activists blocked the road setting fire on tyres. Police obstruction erupted chase and counter chase and police fired rubber bullets to disperse them. 10 Shibir activists were held from the spot.
A similar situation developed when Shibir activists put wood logs to barricade in front of Rajshahi Airport.
Chhatra Shibir activists also vandalised four goods-laden truck on Kharkhari by-pass area and clashed with cops.
Additional law enforcers have been deployed in different important points of the city.
