Dhaka, Jan 21 – The police recovered the body of a security guard from a Jamuna Bank ATM booth in the capital’s Baridhara area on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Shamim, 24. The victim was found with his head bashed inside the ATM booth at Pragati Sarani, said Bilkis Akther, sub-inspector of Bhatara police station.
Three persons have been held in this regard, she added.
“They are being quizzed. They will be shown arrested if any information about the murder is gathered from them,” she said.
“A case is yet to be filed concerning the incident. Steps will be taken following further investigation’, she said.
The law enforcers recovered Shamim’s body around 6:15 am and sent it to the Kurmitola General Hospital. Doctors there said the victim had died a few hours earlier.
Shamim, an employee of the Elite Security Service, used to sleep inside the booth, said police sources.
Injury marks were found on the victim’s head. Later, the body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
There was no sign of any damage to the ATM machine or money being looted.
“We have yet to identify the murder weapon. We have collected CCTV footage from the building,” said Bilkis Akther. – Staff Reporter
