Jan 5 election held as per constitution: Matia

Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury on Tuesday said the January 5 national election was held as per the country’s constitution though ‘undemocratic’ BNP and its ally terrorist outfit Jamaat boycotted it.
She made the remarks in Parliament while participating in the general discussion on the President’s speech.
Matia said BNP was born from the pocket of a general in cantonment through an undemocratic way. “BNP was never a democratic party and it suffered a blow by boycotting the election,” she said. The Agriculture Minister said the last parliamentary polls proved that the election is the only way to change a government.
But, she said, the BNP-Jamaat nexus had tried to make Bangladesh a dysfunctional state by boycotting the election.
Matia said BNP-Jamaat killed people by hiring muggers, drug addicts and professional killers. “This also proved that hired people cannot lead a movement to success,” she said. – UNB
